Why won’t the state allow us to peacefully march with our People’s President Besigye?

Batallions of big black menacing men armed to the teeth with AK47s, pistols, batons, tear gas cannisters, anti-riot gear and other ugly what-nots surround Kizza Besigye who is unarmed but rather peacefully walking on the dust-path from his home to lead a peaceful march to demand truth and transparency from our Electoral Commission in Uganda. The soldiers cut off the throng of journalists armed with cameras, microphones, laptops, phones and pens aimed at covering and relaying the story to the horrified world. A black van with tinted glass edges its way towards the thick activity bubbling around the People’s President. Using brutal force, a policeman called Farouk carried and roughly thrusts my president into the dark black belly of this van. He is then driven away before my very eyes. My heart splinters!

Why won’t the state allow us to peacefully march with our People’s President to demand a breakdown of our reported tallied votes? Why deploy ugly soldiers loaded with heavy armoury to arrest an unarmed leader beloved by his people? What does the state have to fear if the tallies were correct? Booooo! I spit on this massacre of the people of Uganda.
