LETTER FROM THE NORTH: STATE SECRECY, THE CONGO WAR CHRONICLE PART 3.
4 novembre 2013
Jawaharlal Nehru the first prime minister of India once said that “When an aggressor’s Army continually launches attacks to humiliate a particular national or society, it’s a prerequisite of nationals to fight by all means its aggressors. The freedom fight takes time but aggressors are always defeated.”
FARDC with very heavy artillery
This week Rwandans and the international community witnessed the defeat of M23/RDF aggressors. Paul Kagame’s aggressors were swept by freedom fighters from different parts of Congo. RDF/M23 was flouted by the boys under the operation command of Colonel Mamadou Moustafa Ndala, the recent defeat by Dictator Paul Kagame’s RDF/M23 has left military strategist in the region shocked and amused.
Ikaze Iwacu was able to contact a senior officer within Uganda People Defence Forces (UPDF), this officer from the second division based in Mbarara told Ikaze Iwacu that“M23/RDF retreat is beyond believe, it has been the fastest retreat in the military history as they were crashed within four days. It’s fascinating considering that the territory they withdrew from is bigger than Rwanda itself.”
This senior UPDF officer continued to tell Ikaze Iwacu that “RDF/M23 had deployed Special Force battalions in the Congo and they had sophisticated military hardware with them, but they were defeated miserably. This is a big sign that RDF personnel are no longer willing to die for Paul Kagame and his interests.”
Today’s letter will try to analyse and explain the time line events up to the recent defeat of Dictator Paul Kagame’s RDF/M23 cartels in the Congo.
Back Ground:
After RDF/M23 August defeat by the FARDC forces, Dictator Paul Kagame ordered his senior military commander to stay in Gisenyi (Rubavu) and plan for the capture of the lost territory and the main town of Goma which has eluded the RDF/M23 offensives. During the August offensive to capture Goma, in a military meeting that was held on 27-august 2013 at village Urugwiro Dictator Paul Kagame told General Patrick Nyamvumba that “go and Camp in Rubavu as I don’t want to see you in Kigali until Goma is in our hands.”
But all Rwandans saw the outcome as RDF/M23 forces were decimated by FARDC forces, and the Intervention of Mary Robnison, Yoweri Museveni, Justine Greening and International community saved the RDF/M23; as the FARDC was told to stop the offensive against the aggressors. Kinshasa was forced to the Kampala negotiating table, despite this round of war being started by Paul Kagame.

The July and the August defeats had left the RDF/M23 reeling, senior RDF/M23 officers could not believe, what they were seeing on the battle ground. A junior RDF officer at the rank of a Captain and who was part of the defeated force at Mutaho told Ikaze Iwacu that “when we presented our reports to senior officers as to the reasons of our defeats; the worst part is that they laughed us off and some of us where imprisoned for the cause of the August defeat. What I can say is that we are tired of dying in nonsense wars.”
THE RDF/M23 war preparation to capture the territory lost in July and August wars.
After the August defeat, on the 5th August 2013, Dictator Paul Kagame summoned to Village Urugwiro General Patrick Nyamvumba, General Jack Nziza, General Joseph Demali, General Jerome Ngendahimana, General Mubarak Muganga, General Emmanuel Ruvusha, General Eric Murokore, General Jonson Hodari, Colonel Innocent Kaina, Colonel Deo Rusanganwa, Lt. Colonel Joseph Karegire and Major Gerard Ntashamaje. During this meeting that was held in the middle of the night, Dictator Paul Kagame humiliated his presidential guard commander General Jonson Hodari by telling him to leave the meeting.
Ikaze Iwacu has also informed its readers in their previous articles that General Johnson Hodari is now on Agatebe for merely being a close and family friend to General Charles Kayonga. Both General Kayonga and Hodari are still under intense DMI surveillance and they are also jobless like the majority of Rwandans.
During this meeting Dictator Kagame was briefed as to why the RDF/M23 was defeated. These generals raised the issue of training, morale, the personnel numbers and logistics, but a distraught Paul Kagame told these generals that “You guys every time come up with the same silly excuses.” General Kagame then ordered General Eric Murokore to move and camp in Congo as the overall operational commander of M23/RDF and Major Gerard Ntashamaje was also ordered to act as the new political commissioner for the M23/RDF in the Congo.
Major Gérard Ntashamaje the real political leader of M23/RDF
Dictator Paul Kagame ordered his right hand assassin Jack Nziza to provide the necessary logistic support to RDF/M23 forces in the Congo. In the meeting it was agreed that the forces in the Congo should be militarily ready to retain the lost territories and to regain the RDF’s military respect as a formidable army.
FARDC’S military preparation after defeating the RDF/M23 in August.
After defeating the M23/RDF in August, the FARDC did not go to celebrate for their recent victory. FARDC knows well Kagame’s game of talk and fight, Senior FARDC officers knew well that RDF/M23 had asked for negotiation only as a breathing space and a chance to re-organise for future offensive.
On the 7th September 2013, General Francois Olenga the head of land forces met North Kivu operation commanders to congratulate them for their recent victories and he passed a gratitude message from President Joseph Kabila. He also told these commanders that the enemy is planning and re-grouping to attack again.
On 11th September 2013, a newly Belgian train FARDC battalion under Colonel Bisogoarrives in Goma from Kamanyola. This well trained battalion known as 809 battalion was deployed around the Kibati area to reinforce the 41, 805 and 806 infantry battalions. These Congolese special forces battalions where stationed in the Kibati – Kiwanja- and inside Virunga National Park between Busenene and Kalengera.
On the 13th September 2013, General Eric Murokore, Lt. Colonel Joseph Karengire and Lt. Colonel Deo Rusanganwa cross the border to Congo with 5 fresh battalions that are well equipped. These battalions were accompanied by the RDF’s mechanised unit that was based in Gabiro, the mechanised unit crossed with artillery guns and the T55 tanks. These forces were positioned within Kibumba – Rumangabo – Rutshuru front line.
The RDF/M23 started building deep earth bunkers, stationing their artillery guns and concentrating large numbers of soldiers within their at most front line in preparation for an attack.
On 22nd September 2013, after receiving intelligence information that the RDF/M23 is deploying heavily inside Congo. Maj. General Lucien Bauma Ambamba the overall commander North Kivu region sought for reinforcement. New Brigades started to arrive from Southern Kivu and these Brigades where commanded by well known anti- Kagame commanders from the Banyamulenge ethnic group.
These brigades were 107, 106, 103 and 102 which are commanded by Colonel Byinshi, Colonel Musabwa, Colonel Sematama and Colonel Gafirita respectively. These Brigades were deployed by Colonel Mamadou Moustapha Ndala within the Kibumba – Rumangabo – Rutshuru axis.
On the 28th September 2013, the arrival of Falcon drones and Rooivalk ground attacking helicopters from South Africa. By this time FARDC was also ferrying new military hardware to Goma like the T-55 and T-72 tanks, BM-24 and RM-70 which are missile systems pulled by vehicles, two more MI-24 and MI-8 ground attacking helicopters were also deployed and the artillery weapons that included 2S7 203mm, D-30 122mm; and AT-4 spigot was also supplied to FARDC artillery units.
The October war.
14th October 2013, The M23 from Kanyamahoro defences attacked and bombarded FARDC positions only to be replied with a barrage of artillery fire from the FARDC units. On this day Paul Kagame’s militia of Raia Mtomboki and Mai Mai Cheka are told by Kigali to attack FDLR defences to deviate attention from M23.
17th October 2013, Lt Colonel Barinda Claude orders an offensive to dislodge FARDC defences at lower Kanyamahoro for the purpose of gaining the mining areas between Kibumba and Goma. This attack was also repulsed by FARDC and the RDF/M23 had to retreat back to their defences.
20th October 2013, The Kampala talk breakdown and the Congolese delegates decide to return back to Kinshasa. After agreeing on almost everything apart from the issue of military integration the peace talk broke down. International delegates that included USA representative Russ Feingold and Martin Kobler of MONUSCO left Kampala after the peace talk broke down.
On 23rd October 2013, FDLR units attack Mai Mai Cheka positions in Misoke, Bweru and Gasake. Mai Mai Cheka’s militias were neutralised and defeated and their headquarter in Pinga (Masisi area) was captured by FDLR units under Colonel Caleb aka Vedaste Hatangumuremyi.
On 24th October 2013, at 20:00 orders come from Kigali Instructing General Eric Murokoreand Colonel Innocent Kaina to start their offensive for Goma. The RDF/M23 forces at a hill in Kanyamahoro decide to attack FARDC’s forward defence line that was stationed within the Route nationale 2, that goes from Goma to Kibumba. The order comes from General Francois Olenga ordering General Lucien Bauma of the North Kivu’s 8th military region to liberate the whole region.
General Lucien Bahuma ordered FARDC’s operational commander Colonel Mamadou Moustapha Ndala to start the liberation offensive. This night was when Colonel Ndala commanded the brigades based in the Kibumba – Rumangabo – Rutshuru axis to attack. Colonel Ndala knew that Kanyamahoro hills had to be liberated first before the force advance to Kibumba, Rumangabo and Rutshuru.
The RDF/M23 defences at Kanyamahoro were destroyed within few hours of the fight; the Rooivalk helicopters flattened the RDF/M23 bunkers. The M23/RDF forces hurriedly withdrew towards Kibumba.
On 25th October 2013, at 4: oo Am the advancing FARDC troops started pounding M23/RDF defences stationed in Kibumba and Rugari with artillery barrages. These RDF/M23 defences were manned by Rwanda’s Special Forces supported by T-55 tanks and commanded by Lt. Colonel Joseph Karegire. But to FARDC’S shock the enemy did not resist for long as they retreated speedily towards the Rwanda border and it was during this retreat that senior M23/RDF officers were injured including Colonel vianney Kazarama and Major Andre Muzungu.
The M23/ RDF troops retreated towards Bugeshi inside Rwanda and the injured were taken to Ruhengeri hospital for treatment. On this day Colonel Kazarama. Colonel Joseph Karegire, Colonel Barinda Claude etc; cross to Rwanda.
On 26th October 2013, the whole of Kibumba gets liberated and the North Kivu governor visits Kibumba to celebrate with the local population. On this same day the 103 and 106 brigades arrive in the outskirt of Rutshuru and Kiwanja areas, and the Rutshuru war starts.
M23/RDF forces at Rumangabo start withdrawing under the cover of night, the RDF/M23 resistance was minimal. On this same day an RDF/M23 battalion led by Major Alan Musiime try to help trapped RDF soldiers at Hehu, only to be repulsed by FARDC artillery units supported by MI-24 attacking helicopters.
On the 27th October 2013, War around Rutshuru intensifies and the RDF/M23 forces after being attacked from three different fronts; starts withdrawing towards Bunagana. On this same day Kiwanja was captured at around 13:00 hrs local time. The RDF/M23 forces in Kawanja and Rutshuru centre were under the command of Lt. Colonel Gaceri Musana, but his forces did not resist for long as himself and the remaining troops fled towards Bunagana.
On 28th October 2013; after the capture of Kibumba, Kiwanja, Rutshuru centre and Rumangabo. The FARDC artillery Units and air power destroyed, and neutralised RDF/M23 artillery unit at Hehu hill; and no single RDF/M23 personnel survived the FARDC Hehu assault.
On 29th October 2013, As FARDC and UN intervention brigade was approaching Bunagana, senior RDF/M23 military officers started running back to Rwanda while the political leaders crossed through to Uganda. On this day Maj. General Eric Murokore, Colonel Innocent Kaina, Major Gerard Ntashamaje, Lt. Colonel Gaceri Musana, Major Ngenzi, Major Ibra Mweru, Major Olivier Lumumba etc. crossed to Rwanda through Runyoni.
In Bunagana the FARDC did not meet any resistance as all RDF/M23 elements had fled the main town. By this time the M23/RDF had withdrawn from an area bigger than Rwanda in merely four days. This military defeat and withdraw has left every one bemused.
Where are these RDF/M23 military officers?
After crossing the border back to Rwanda on the 29th of October 2013, General Eric Murokore was arrested and taken to Kigali and now is still under house arrest for his failure to execute Dictator Kagame’s evil missions in the Congo. Lt. Colonel Joseph Karegire is also under house arrest for his Congo failures. Senior M23 officers were allowed to live among their relatives in Rwanda, and for those who have no relatives are camped in Byumba.
A senior RDF officer who is conversant with this situation told Ikaze Iwacu that “Kagame can’t afford to arrest senior M23 officers, he knows now that he is being hated by Tutsis from Northern Kivu for selling them a black project of Hima – Tutsi territory. These Rwandaphones from Northern Kivu are now wishing to have listened to advises from their brothers in the Southern Kivu not to trust Paul Kagame.”
Senior RDF officers are walking with their heads looking down in shame, Ikaze Iwacu already informed its readers in their previous articles that Rwanda has no real Generals, it’s a batch of corporals wearing general’s beeps (ranks). Our informer from village Urugwiro has told Ikaze Iwacu that Dictator Paul Kagame is now in very bad moods and his paranoia has hiked, he feels that he has been sabotaged by his commanders.
Quotes from RDF’s senior Commanders:
- Dictator Paul Kagame told Intore during the Rwanda day in London that “You don’t need to be a brave person to defeat FARDC ».
- Dictator Paul Kagame told journalist at Village Urugwiro in 2012 that “FARDC has no army; even the so called soldiers can’t even operate a gun.”
- James Kabarebe told members of parliament this year that “No army can ever defeat the RDF; the RDF is strong and formidable that can defeat any military assault.”
- James Kabarebe once told journalist that “FARDC is an army composed of drunkards who are ill disciplined, it’s not fit to be called an Army.”
The problem is that these men have no brain to even reflect on their words and actions.
Louise Mushikiwabo’s news.
Rwandans have been asking the where about of Dictator Paul Kagame’s loud speaker Louise Mushikiwabo. Rwandans should know that lady noise has for the past weeks been suffering from the work related depression. Reliable sources have told Ikaze Iwacu that Louise Mushikiwabo is now over stressed due to the impossible job she has to do. Her daily fabrication of lies for the RPF government within the International community is having a toll to her health.
Due to her stress, village Urugwiro has told her to cut back on her work but with the Congo war flaring she may be called back to the lime light; as dictator Paul Kagame admires her skilfully lies. This reliable informer also told Ikaze Iwacu that Louise Mushikiwabo is fade up with all the bullshit as she is turning into a loner and being imprisoned indirectly by Paul Kagame; as she sees no exit.
Henry David Thoreau in his 2007 publication, “Walking”, stated that “No body can give you a wise advice than yourself.” What Rwandans hope is a day when this woman will give herself advice and jump out of the ship that killed even her own brother Lando Ndasingwa.
Conclusion:
Rwandans have witnessed an imposter president abuse the office of the presidency, we have witnessed the RPF corruptions and murders; but Rwandans should have hope and believe that this Nazi regime is arriving to its final days.
