Our reliable source from Rwanda close to Burundians rebels who fled to Rwanda after the failed coup, has informed us that they are now tired, and extremely disappointed after Tanzania’s derailed another plan to launch an attack on Burundi, from Mtendeli refugee camp in Kigoma district.
According to Tanzania Police report published by Voice of America on its Kirundi website, heavy weapons and huge ammunitions have been seized in that refugee camp and 9 people were apprehended, and are now in police custody.
This is not the first time Kagame has tried to attack Burundi. After Kagame failed to use RDC’s territory where a lot of rebels from Rwanda were captured by FARDC (Congo government’s soldiers) trying to cross to Burundi through Uvira, now Tanzania has foiled his plan.
It is no longer a secret that Kagame and Gen Niyombare’s group have been trying to attack Burundi and this time, they were hoping to use refugee camp to start the war from Tanzania and then link up with them.
It is worth noting that these past few days NGOs such as MSF and UNHCR operating in Tanzania have been reporting that refugees claiming to be coming from Burundi have been registering. However, eye witnesses and Burundi government have been reporting that a lot of refugees from Tanzania have been returning home lately. The question now is to find out if these newcomers “refugees” are Kagame and Niyombare’s men or regular citizens fleeing Burundi even though the country appeared to regain stability.
