Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda’s now expiring his second term but he’s racing for another 7 years’ term in the elections on 4/8/2017.
Perhaps his populism is justified, given that he terrorized Rwandan people into succumbing to his tyranny; but why is he doing it? More significantly why is the ruling party RPF and her satellites still backing Kagame as their presidential candidate, given that he’s internationally famed for war crimes and genocide?
Kagame’s doing it because he knows that it’s his presidency that immunizes him from arrest warrants. And RPF&her satellites are backing him because
a) they know he’ll cheat the elections;
b) they think he’ll protect them from judicial pursuits over the public megabucks they have embezzled; and
c) the clan of Abega minority fears that power may pass into the hands of Abanyiginya&Hutu majority.
But finally will Kagame succeed? Surely no. He has ruled at gunpoint and he must sit anticipating the backfire that is to bang!
