By David Himbara

Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza imprisoned since 2010 for standing up to the Kagame dictatorship.

Adeline Rwigara, imprisoned in 2017 for standing up to the Kagame dictatorship.

Diane Rwigara, imprisoned in 2017 for standing up to the Kagame dictatorship.

The Women’s Day has a great history. On March 8, 1917, in Petrograd, the capital of the Russian Empire, women textile workers began a demonstration. This marked the beginning of the Russian Revolution and worldwide movement for women’s emancipation. This movement continues to this day. Rwandan women are at the forefront of fighting for freedom.

We celebrate you brave Rwandan women: Victoire, Adeline, and Diane. You are not alone. We are with you everyday.

Kagame, the actions of the three women you threw in jail — Victoire Ingabire, Adeline Rwigara, and Diane Rwigara — began a quiet but determined revolution against dictatorship. That movement is unstoppable no matter how many people you kill or imprison. Prepare to face justice.
