PRESIDENT PETER NKURUNZIZA ACCUSES RWANDA OF SUPPORTING ATTACKERS AND SMUGGLING BURUNDI’S MINERALS.

Talking about Burundi’s mineral wealth, the president used an example of one county (commune) of Kabarole, he noted that before 2016, Kabarole produced 400 Kg of coltan per month and after curbing on smugglers from a neigbouring state, the county of Kabarole was able to 25 tones per month from coltan.

President Nkurunziza continued to note that, ” in case I decide to talk about our coffee where we found out that between 30 – 40 % of our coffee is being smuggled to Rwanda.” ” Obviously, this country is always singing that they are great exporters of coffee, yet the coffee is being smuggled from Burundi.

According to Nkurunziza, since this month, his government has closed all the smuggling loopholes.

He advised residents of Muyinga to be vigilant and cautious of their security and encouraged them to double their security; especially after it has now been discovered that they have minerals.

The president reassured the residents that internally the Country is peaceful and God has blessed the country with minerals. And soon lives of Burundians will improve especially with discoveries of various minerals.
