Kagame Forgot He Closed A Trading Border

By David Himbara

General Paul Kagame incredibly reminded African leaders to cater for small-to-medium cross-border traders. This is the man who destroyed a vibrant trading community at the common border with Uganda. It is now over five months since Kagame did this. Kagame should first give himself the advice he is giving to others. This is what the gentleman said today:

”Rwanda fully agrees with its recommendations. We particularly concur on two points. One, the need to cater for small-to-medium cross-border traders, by simplifying trade regimes applicable to them. Two, the decision to commence trading under the AfCFTA on July 1st, 2020.”

Somebody remind Kagame that Rwandans cannot trade with Uganda and by extension Kenya because he locked Rwandans inside the country when closed the border.
