Tension in Rwanda Military after Kagame’s Generals Leaked His Speech on Need to Kill “Enemies” On Sight

There is fear for possible mutiny among Rwandan top military officers following a revelation by President Paul Kagame to kill his enemies on sight.

Kagame addressed his military generals on October 19, 2019 and his speech was extraordinarily violent – even by president’s standards.

The speech recalled what Kagame uttered on June 14, 2014 after the US State Department said it was “deeply concerned” about the arrests and disappearance of Rwandans. Kagame’s response was as follows:

“We will continue to arrest more suspects and, if possible, shoot in broad daylight those who intend to destabilize our country. Kagame is heard speaking in the video translated from Kinyarwanda.

The same speech repeats his 2014 declarations that he will kill suspects in broad daylight.

The shocking thing about the speech is not the content but the fact that Kagame’s speech to the generals was leaked.

“Kagame must be a worried man. Evidently, he can’t trust anyone if his speech to the generals can be leaked. Kagame is pretty well on his own” notes former Kagame’s right hand man David Himbara turned dissident.

Sources within Rwandan military says a section of military chiefs are not happy with Kagame’s speech who is also accused of leading his citizens by the barrel of the gun.

Senior opposition leaders in Rwanda continue to disappear mysteriously after kidnap while others are abducted and later killed in broad day light.

Rwanda government has also been accused of exporting terror to the neigbouring countries where suspected political refugees are seeking asylum.

Recently, South Africa tasked Rwanda government to hand over 3 Rwandan nationals accused of assassinating former Rwandan spy chief Patrick Karegeya.
