Louis-Antoinne Muhire may have been asked to step aside as Chief Executive Officer at Rwanda Cooperation Initiative, Taarifa reliably reports. It is not yet clear what could have caused this early firing of the Fintech entrepreneur and former detective of the Canadian Police that returned to his motherland four years ago.
Inquiring from Muhire himself whether he would spare some time for Taarifa and give an exclusive interview on the progress of Rwanda Cooperation Initiative (RCI), he said he was temporarily away.
“Am on leave, perhaps you can talk with the COO currently acting in my absence or wait when am back,” the bilingual Chief executive told Taarifa in a brief phone text message.
Rosine Urujeni is the RCI’s Chief Operations Officer (COO) and both were appointed to this agency in September last year during an extraordinary Cabinet Meeting chaired by President Paul Kagame.
Rwanda set up this Cooperation Initiative with the target of Marketing and Commercialisation of the country’s Home Grown Solutions that other countries keep requesting details about.
The government planners recommended this initiative be coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and East African Community in close collaboration with the Rwanda Governance Board (RGB), the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning.
Because Rwanda is regularly receiving visitors from different African Countries, many keep requesting to see how Rwanda’s home grown solutions work and if possible if they could be replicated in other countries.
Some of the indigenous solutions that Rwanda has applied to fix its challenges include; Community courts (gacaca), Umuganda (community work), One cow per family initiative (Girinka) among others.
This is what drove government to establish the Rwanda Cooperation Initiative a single place where people can come and discuss and get documentation.
This agency has been operating under Muhire as CEO, Urujeni as COO and Freddy Makuza is the Chief Finance Officer.
