Does anyone have Kabarebe speach in English? Or was he too scared of his masters to speak English this time?
Regardless, I after carefully listening to what Kabarebe has to say, I hear an aging man who is getting more and more fearful, very uncertain about the future, with great appreciation for his enemies. What took him so long I wonder.
War against popular ideology is a war they cannot win. Despite all his regime has done to silence us all, he acknowledges that the ideology against them is getting stronger, not weaker. This ideology does not rely on the old regime they toppled a quarter of a century ago, this the ideology to take back the county is steadily infused with fresh blood every day a new baby is born, every year a new teen graduates high school, and beyond. We are everywhere, inside and outside Rwanda. They know they are outnumbered and there’s nothing they can do to change the trend.
If Kabarebe was a man with brains, wouldn’t he be interested in securing a safer and more sustainable future for his children and his grandchildren? If he and Kagame were visionaries and they claim to be, won’t they foster negotiations with the other side?
Numbers don’t lie, there’s no way out. No weapon will secure the future of those you rule today by way of brainwashing and in total blindness; only true reconciliation will give you the Rwanda that you want.
Pleasing foreign masters only makes you a puppet, and it stems from colonial mentality. Working toward true reconciliation of your own people, however, is the hallmark of good statesmanship.
