Kagame’s Director Of Cabinet, Mpambara, Ordered Mihigo To Apologize For His Views Or Die. Mihigo Died In Police Custody.

By David Himbara

Kizito Mihigo’s secret prison recordings reveal the mental torture he endured during the past six years. In the recordings exclusively obtained by Britain’s Channel4, it becomes evident that Mihigo’s troubles began in April 2014.

That is when he released a song, Urupfu, challenging the official narrative of the 1994 Rwandan genocide. There is one particular chilling part of the recordings where Mihigo describes his encounter with General Paul Kagame’s Director of Cabinet, Ines Mpambara. Mpambara ordered Mihigo to either withdraw his song and apologize to Kagame or die. Fast-forward to February 17, 2020, Mihigo died in police custody. It turns out that Mpambara’s order was executed.
