Your Excellency the President of the Republic of Rwanda;
We, Alfred NKUBILI’s family members, we humbly beg for your timely intervention into our Father’s protracted case between our family business and the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources.
For the second time, our Father is detained in National Police Station by RIB since June 29th, 2020 without any criminal charge. Your Excellency, our Father has made everything to communicate with MINAGRI and other relevant government institutions.
In the common recovery exercise of the long outstanding government debt of 6 districts of Eastern Province from 2011 as stipulated in the contract without success.
It is unfortunate and not fair to hold our Father accountable, while the signed contract engages the Local Government [Districts] for the recovery exercise and so far, nothing has been done from their side. Without any evidence-based reason, RIB requested our Father to pay 55 million as bail and sign the recovery commitment letter.
That signed recovery commitment letter was supposed to allow him to be released and follow up 6 districts to pay the government debt but now it is used as the principal prosecution evidence.
Your Excellency, we believe in the rule of law and we have no doubt in its effectiveness in Rwanda. We are ready to provide all evidences to justify the truth behind this case.
Meanwhile we would like to express our concern about Mr., NKUBILI’s health – he is very ill and had to be hospitalized during the time when he was in custody.
