In what appears to be a wrong target, a Burundian refugee was assassinated in unexplained circumstances by unknown assailants last Friday at about 22 hours in Kabangwe areas known as 10 miles from Lusaka. The visibly shocked and scared neighbours suspect the victims could have been a wrong target going by the events that took place before the assassination.

The Zambia police have confirmed on receiving a murder report of Nimbabazi Christopher aged 33 years a businessman at 10 Miles Market, who was shot dead by unknown criminals as he was entering his yard whilst in his vehicle registration number BAL 7874 Toyota Hiace white in colour on 25th October 2021. In reaction, the Burundian neighbours living in the same vicinity spoken to in separate exclusive interviews suspect the target could have been a former Rwandan refugee who drive a similar similar vehicle the victim was driving and living in the same neighbourhood.
The suspicion is based on the fact that the person has been killed in a similar suspicious manner save that, the victim is Rwandans National who are critical to the Paul Kagame led government.

Before the latest killing of a Burundian Refugee in Lusaka, several mysterious deaths and disappearances of people critical of Rwanda’s government have taken place both in Rwanda and outside Kigali where the opponents have gone to seek refuge.

Theoneste Lizinde,
The former intelligence official was found dead in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1996.
For example, his eldest brother Melieius Ndihokubwayo said in an exclusive interview that the funeral house held at 10 miles this morning that, the killers did not take anything away from the victim.

Ndihokubwayo said his young brother whom he identified as Christopher Nimbabazi (29) knocked off from his shop, he went straight home.
On his way home, Ndihokubwayohe said Nimbabazi found unknown people waiting for him at the entrance of the gate leading to where his house is situated at 10 miles.
Immediately after seeing it, the assistant fired one-shots at the front screen which missed him.

He said it was the second shot which was shot at from the back that killed him.
He said after hearing gunshots, there was panic among tenants who were his neighbours got scared to come out of their houses to defend the victim.
He said the police who rushed to the scene of the crime was notified but could do little or nothing to save the situation and the victims were already dead.
He said the police broke into the car to both retrieve the body and inspect the vehicle, but the police found that nothing was stolen.
He said he and his fellow neighbour are living in fear and is now requesting the government to enhance security to secure the lives of the people
He also wants the police to intensify the investigations and bring the killers to prevent further killing killings.

The deceased has left behind two children, a four-year-old and one is one year and the wife.
And the landlord Martin Nalishuwa said Christopher Nimbabazi (29) was a tenant, who moved in to live in his house in 2019.
Nalishuwa said the death of Nimbabazi came to him as shocking considering that he had no known enemy who had an intention to take him out.
He explained that Nimbabazi related very well not only with him but also with other tenants.
He said what happened is one of its kind and appealed to the government to beef for security in the area
He said in 13 years he has lived in the areas, nothing is that sort has ever happened in the area.
He said the police should not only increase security but also ensure that people in the areas are protected.

And an eyewitness who was in front of the deceased driving said, at the time he passed at the gate, there was no sign of criminals that could have attacked anyone.
John Bosco Bahati said in an exclusive interview that, at about 2202, he heard two gunshots and called the name of the deceased who was driving behind him to see if he used it safely.
When he arrived at the gate no vehicle was following him to suggest that his life.

He expressed surprise to have learnt that his neighbour was killed in a manner that does not suggest that it was an act of banditry that led to the killing of his neighbour.
It appear to him that the criminals were looking for him and trailed him to the place where they ended up killing him.
He asked the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure that the motive for killing his neighbour is established.

Meanwhile the statistics of these heinous crimes are adding up as it was documented in “Do we hear them when they do cry?” courtesy of Edem Djokotoe in the local tabloid way back in 2006.
