A Canadian newspaper has revealed startling evidence of how the Rwandan government has plotted to kill dissidents abroad.

The Globe and Mail spoke to exiles in Belgium and South Africa who said they were recruited by Rwanda’s military intelligence network to carry out assassination of political opponents of President Paul Kagame.

One of these individuals in exile — a former officer of the Rwandan Patriotic army — said he was hired to kill two of Kagame’s most hated enemies, and decided to tape the conversations as proof of the plot.

He’s shared the recordings with the Globe and Mail newspaper. Judi Rever is a freelance journalist who worked on the story and has a copy of the recordings.
