I was responging to a non rwandan friend who seemed to praise Kagame for his achievements:
My friend, for Rwandans this guy is just a dictator. The media argues that the Genocide makes Kagame popular. I’ll challenge you to find out what caused the Genocide to happen by doing an indepth research and find out the truth about it yourself. Then you will come to a different conclusion.
Also, we Rwandans know that a lot of people from Kagame’s opposing tribe have been engineered to be in prison or not in prison but all do a lot of free community work and pay money for ‘Genocide’ crime they all committed. I know Kagame gets millions of international donor money, gets those guys to do the work for free and pockets most of the money. The work is done to be shown to international community as development and he inreaches himself! The guy is just very clever and everyone in the international community agrees with him but with Rwandans it’s the opposite.
Even the genocide victim tribe which Kagame comes from know he intentionally caused the Genocide to happen which he used to get popularity for ‘stopping it’ and from which he managed to get free labour.
There are real opponents who had resources to challenge him in these elections of 2017 but fabrications were engineered to ban them from running and Kagame’s system managed to manipulate the media to explain why they were not allowed to run. Do your research you’ll find out who they are. The guy is just scared of any real opposition.
People in Rwanda fear to say anything against this guy or to not go to any of his rallies or meetings. Those candidates who ‘run against him in these elections’ are just opposition impostors Kagame has put in place. They don’t even say anything that challenges the ruling party directly.
The international media can say what they like, but we Rwandans know the real truth because we live it. There has been famine in the country which the government has hidden from the media. Kagame has even refused to get food aid from donors so that this famine is not reported and stain his ‘development achiements’; Rwanda is a volcano waiting to explode one day.
The guy just knows how to play the media and uses the Genocide story to intimidate his opponents and for donors to feel sorry for him and his tribe.
All Rwandans know that most of the remains of genocide victims (those bones) the government usually parades as tutsis who were genocided are mainly from the hutus which he massacred in hundreds of thousands when he got to power!
Of course we know that tutsis died in the Genocide and this should not have happened but, the story has been so manipulated such that we Rwandans feel manipulated by this Kagame man and some in the international community and it’s media. These days we have even forgotten about the massacres Kagame committed in DRC thanks to ‘the reliable’ the media that you and me are exposed to.
One day rumors surfaced that Kagame had died, most people in DRC had started celebrating while most Rwandans held their breath and waited first to see if it were true; if it had been true, you were going to see the celebrations that would have followed amongst Rwandans.
This account should probably be reported to remind the world of past and factual events and how Kagame has manipulated the to reach where the media is at the moment.
I personally am not wishing for his death but rather for him to come to his senses instead. To which my friend replied:
“Unfortunately that is unlikely to happen because power corrupts!!”
