‘Beautifully Broken’ film on Brentwood man’s family story, William Mwizerwa, hits theaters – here’s where you can see it

A film about a Brentwood businessman’s inspiring family story is hitting the theaters nationwide on Friday. Randy Hartley is portrayed in the film “Beautifully Broken,” based on the story about the convergence between Hartley and William Mwizerwa of Rwanda, a businessman who was targeted during the Rwandan Genocide and spent years trying to move his family to the U.S.

The movie follows three fathers trying to save their families from differing plights in various parts of the world, whose paths meet in an unexpected way.

Hartley’s story was also the subject of a 2014 documentary called “Through the Valley.”

The cast includes Scott William Winters; Benjamin Onyango; Emily Hahn; Eric Roberts; Jessica Obilom; Caitlin Nicol-Thomas; Alan Powell; Eugene Khumbanyiwa; Tammi Arender and Thomasina “Goo Goo” Atkins. Christian musicians Toby McKeehan and Michael W. Smith also make appearances.

The film’s title song “Beautifully Broken” is performed by Grammy Award-winning artist John Berry, Dove Award-winning singer Plumb and Grammy Award-winning gospel artist CeCe Winans, a Nashville pastor.
