Gen Kayihura Put Under 24/7 Surveillance at Nairobi Hospital Bed.

Ugandan security operatives and their Kenyan counterpart are maintaining close surveillance on former Ugandan Inspector General of police Gen Kale Kayihura who is currently admitted at Nairobi hospital.

The frail looking Kayihura who left the country last week for treatment in Kenyan capital Nairobi after being granted bail by Military court martial in Makindye is battling diabetes and other related complications.

According to a source, Kayihura is not allowed to access a phone and can only be accessed by authorized persons under strict supervision.

“He is under strict surveillance by Kenyan authorities and their Ugandan counterparts in order to avoid any eventuality like escaping from hospital.”

It is reported that part of the team overseeing Kayihura treatment is Brig Dr Ambrose Musinguzi, Chief of UPDF Medical Services.

A security source intimated to this website that this followed after Ugandan security learnt that Rwandan intelligence services who have always been accused of working with Kayihura to try to destabilize Uganda shifted their bases to Nairobi-Kenya as a tactic to easily access Kampala.

This also followed after Ugandan military intelligence made it hard for them to come to Kampala through Uganda’s borders in South Western part of the country.

Ugandans on social media have been calling for the cancellation of Gen Kayihura’s bail following the assassination of his critic ASP Mohamed Kirumira who was believed to have caused his sacking after exposing rot in police.

Furious Ugandans are questioning why the assassinations have resumed shortly after his release yet there haven’t been any cases of insecurity while Kayihura was in military detention.

The slain ASP Kirumira is remembered for not mincing his words towards his former boss and celebrated his arrest and detention by the military from his farm house in Kashagama Lyantonde district in June this year.

Until his assassination, Kirumira has been complaining about threats on his life by people he said were linked to Gen Kayihura in police for standing out to talk about corruption and criminality in the force.

He was also expected to testify against him as a principal witness before the military court in a case where he is accused of aiding and abetting illegal arrest and repatriation of Rwandan refugees and asylum seekers in Uganda by handing them over to Kigali security services for execution while others are jailed.

The general who was released on bail is expected to appear in the same court on October 1, 2018.
