Paul Rusesabagina, the man whose story was told in the movie ‘Hotel Rwanda’, was kidnapped in Dubai in unexplained circumstances between August 27, 2020 and August 31, the day he was exhibited in the Rwandan capital in handcuffs.
Rusesabagina, a former manager of the Des Milles Collines hotel where more than 1,000 people were able to save their lives during the 1994 Rwandan genocide, is a political refugee and has Belgian nationality.
A human rights activist and one of the best known opponents of the dictatorial regime of Paul Kagame, he had suffered several assassination attempts and harassment in recent years, allegedly by the tentacles of the Rwandan government abroad.
This government is known for having persecuted and assassinated opponents both inside and outside of Rwanda. Jon Cuesta, journalist and director of the documentary ‘Victims of Impunity’, interviews Carine Kanimba, one of Paul Rusesabagina’s daughters, to find out the details that the family knows and what the situation they are living through.
