Today, September 30, 2017 I would like to impress upon the Rwandan community how crucial it is right now to come together to build a country that values democracy, justice, and human rights. It is up to us to do everything in our power to protect and uphold democracy and freedom. There will be no sustainable economic growth without freedom to choose our leaders, freedom of speech, and respect for all.
Rwanda must have an environment where the voice of the people is heard, respected, and honored; an environment where differing views are welcomed and all can feel safe and secure in expressing their own. We cannot afford seven more years of dictatorship. Rwanda has too much going for it to go backward. We can be better. We must be better.
