General Paul Kagame is attracting plenty of fake news these days. For example, a faked Tv5 Monde reported a fake story that Kagame was evacuated to the UK for medical care, and that his prime minister is acting in the interim.
The fake story alleges that its sources identified coronavirus contamination as the issue. It is easy to determine that this is trash. Were General Kagame’s grip on power to loosen temporarily or otherwise, his prime minister has no chance to act as interim.
Kagame’s military chiefs, his wife Jeannette Kagame Nyiromongi, and the figurehead president of the senate would scramble for power. Whoever spreads fake news harms Rwandan activism that is seeking progressive change. And real pen fighters expose the atrocities of the Kagame regime by documenting factual accounts, not fantasies. No fake news please – thank you very much indeed.
