Kagame, Prof Kayumba Must Not Die In Police Custody

By David Himbara

It is 2 months and 20 days since General Paul Kagame’s police state seized Prof Christopher Kayumba from Kigali International Airport. He was about to travel to Kenya. Kayumba has not been charged with any crimes.

The biggest worry now is Kayumba’s safety in a country where individuals routinely die in police custody. Kizito Mihigo, Kalisa Mupende, and Dr. Emmanuel Gasakure come to mind. We must not remain silent; and we must pray that Prof Kayumba does not become another statistic of Rwandans killed in police custody.
