Kagame tried to silence David Himbara on Facebook. Imagine if Himbara was living in Rwanda.

Kagame Nyiramongi School Landed Me In Facebook’s Jail But Truth Won. I landed in Facebook jail for my story about the Covid19 case at Mrs Jeannette Kagame Nyiramongi’s Green Hills Academy, a top elite school in Rwanda. I penned the story because nobody dared to write about it in Rwanda – the family of General Paul Kagame is untouchable even for writing about a health pandemic.

Interestingly, my article was based on Green Hills’ own statements publicly available on its website, http://www.greenhillsacademy.rw/. As soon as I posted the story, Kagame’s army went to work, convincing Facebook to throw me in jail – they blocked the article.

On appeal, I was released from jail with an apology. Facebook said it was sorry, it got it wrong, and that my Nyiramongi post follows Facebook’s standards. The truth won – something totally alien in Kagame’s open prison called Rwanda.

Kagame tried to silence David Himbara on Facebook. Imagine if Himbara was living in Rwanda.
