Kagame’s Statement That God Stays In Rwanda Is Blasphemous

By David Himbara

On September 10, 2017, President Paul Kagame praised the Lord for the Almighty’s kindness to Rwanda since genocide. As Kagame put it:

What happened in this nation will never happen again. Today, God is back to spending the day elsewhere and comes home to Rwanda.

Rwandan religious leaders should condemn Kagame for uttering blasphemies. Of course I that most religious leaders in Rwanda are a lost cause – they are either afraid to face the truth or they worship Kagame as some kind of demigod.

Blasphemy is the act of insulting or showing contempt or lack of reverence to God. One does not need to do deep research to discover why Kagame’s mention of God is blasphemous.

Why do I say that?

While Kagame is saying that God comes home in Rwanda, the Rwandan dictator is busy doing Satan’s work.

He is torturing families across the nation. Look at Kagame’s battalion matching Adeline Rwigara and her children in the Kigali streets. Is this the work of God or the devil?

The families of the late Patrick Karegeya are daily tortured – some of them thrown into prison for God-knows-for-what reason.

The family of Leah Karegeya, the widow of Patrick Karegeya, is experiencing the worst of the worst. Six members of her family, including her sister Goretti Kabuto, are in Kagame’s dungeons. Goretti is a new mother, now separated from her baby.

Is this the work of God, or the devil – separating a mother and child because of some irrational hatred?

I am no expert in religion, but I at least know the Ten Commandments. Here they are:

  1. You shall not have no other God before me.
  2. You shall not make any graven images.
  3. You shall not use the Lord’s Name in vain.
  4. Remember to keep Sabbath day holy.
  5. Honour your father and mother.
  6. You shall not commit murder.
  7. You shall not commit adultery.
  8. You shall not steal.
  9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.
  10. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or belongings.

Show me which of these commandments Kagame does not break everyday. In his speech of September 10, the Rwandan dictator broke Commandment 3: “You shall not use the Lord’s Name in vain.”
