Brig Muhoozi Kainerugaba, Janet’s step-son. The UPDF can never allow him to become its commander-in-chief.
Today we bring to our readers the last part of an exclusive interview we had just over a fortnight ago with an insider who revealed the names of the people who gunned down the former Energy Minister Dr Lutakome Andrew Kayiira on March 6, 1987.
To recap, our source revealed that Gen Salim Caleb Oriba Akandwanaho Saleh, the half-brother of Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, was entrusted with the order to eliminate Dr Kayiira, one of the freedom fighters who joined the Museveni government soon after the overthrow of the regime of Gen Tito Okello Lutwa in January 1986.
The former leader of the then Uganda Freedom Army/Front, had agreed to join the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government in what he believed was to be a unity government. He showed his determination to serve truly in the first NRM government by publicly giving up his army and ordering them to become part of the then National Resistance Army (NRA) that was later to be transformed into the now Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF). This was done at a ceremony this writer attended at Mityana, approximately 48 miles south-west of Kampala in 1986.
There has been a lot of comments made about our exclusive story on March 9, 2013 with some of the readers doubting whether indeed it was Gen Saleh and now deceased Maj Sesanga Mivule who led the attack on my house that ended with Dr Kayiira dead and my family and I fleeing into exile where we have been since. We went through the taped interview once again and our ‘highly reliable source’ over and over again states that the order to kill Dr Kayiira was handed over to Gen Saleh who organised a former Kayiira soldier, one of those that had joined the NRA, Sesanga Mivule to carry out the operation. Our source continues to say: “Sesanga was the one who commanded the attack force. He was the one who was in charge during the attack at your house.” FULL STORY
