Museveni Speaks on ‘RWANDA’ Fueling Insecurity in Uganda.

By Kim Aine

President Museveni has vowed to uproot what he described as a “jigger” that has “polluted” Uganda’s peace and stability, Chimp Corpsreport.

Museveni was responding to a question from a journalist who wondered whether a ‘neighbouring country’ had a hand in the acts of insecurity in the country.

While the journalist did not mention the country, it was widely understood that he was referring to the one whose relations with Uganda have deteriorated in recent years.

Museveni did not ask the journalist which country he was referring to.

But the President said the state “will know” if the country is supporting terrorism in Uganda.

He used the metaphor of a jigger which he said can be “removed without necessarily cutting off the foot.”

He said after removing the jigger, the entire foot would be “disinfested.”

Museveni, who spoke to journalists at State House Entebbe on Saturday, said Uganda “will not panic” in the face of assassinations of prominent figures in society, adding, “But we shall get these people without roadblocks or banning boda bodas.”

Uganda has in recent years witnessed the killing of Sheiks who include Mustafa Bahiga, Daktur Muwaya, Jowat Madangu, Yusuf Ssentamu, Kirya and Yunis Sentuga, etc..

The killers later took the life of Senior State Attorney, Joan Kagezi; Major Mohammed Kiggundu; AIGP Felix Kaweesi; businesswoman Susan Magara, Col Abiriga and, recently, Mohamad Kirumira.

Museveni said measures were being taken to arrest the situation.

“We shall not put roadblocks to inconvenience you…The NRM is experts on using guns. There are a few organisations in the world that can use the guns as well the UPDF but we never kill people extra judicially. And the record is there,” said Museveni.

He said the perpetrators of insecurity were “taking advantage of lack of vigilance.”
