Nyagatare: RIB arrests Nigerian lecturer over defilement

Dr. John Dorotimi, a Nigerian lecturer at the University of Rwanda, Nyagatare Campus, was on Saturday morning arrested on charges of defiling an underage girl, Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has said.

The suspect allegedly lured the victim to his house, which is in the vicinity of the university, where he defiled her on Friday night, according to reports from his neighbors.

Modeste Mbabazi, Spokesperson of RIB, confirmed the arrest but declined to reveal any other information saying that investigation is ongoing.

“We have him in custody on charges of defiling a minor but cannot tell you more than that.”

The suspect is being held at Nyagatare Police Station, while the victim was taken to Nyagatare Hospital for tests.
