Burundi President Evariste Ndayimishimiye is expected to make his first state visit to Tanzania tomorrow Saturday. According to the program released by Tanzanian government, Gen Ndayishimye will arrive in the northern town of Kigoma in the morning on Saturday and will be received by President Dr. Pombe Magufuli.
Pombe Magufuli and his guest then will head to Lake Tanganyika stadium before inaugurating the Tanzania high court building Kigoma. The two will later hold official talks at Kigoma palace and the guest will later depart.
This will be President Ndayishimiye’s first official visit to outside Burundi since his election in May 2020.
This visit also comes barely a week after Gen Neva as he is fondly called in Burundi, declined to attend a mini summit in Goma-DR Congo at the invitation of President Felix Tshisekedi.
The Burundian former bush war hero replaced late former bush war comrade Pierre Nkurunziza who succumbed to cardiac arrest this year.
Tanzania is considered a strategic key ally for Burundi both politically and economically.
