Refugee camps in Rwanda as source of DR Congo Rebel recruitment centers

Since 1997, Congolese Refugee camps in Rwanda have been the source of recruitment for different rebel groups in Democratic Republic of Congo.

For years, Rwanda’s intelligence services have used Congolese Refugee camps in Rwanda as a source of Democratic Republic of Congo rebel recruitments. Congolese Refugee camps in Rwanda are Gihembe Camp (Gicumbi District), Nyabiheke Camp (Gatsibo District), Kigeme Camp (Nyamagabe District) and Kiziba Camp (Karongi District); all these Congolese refugee camps have been top security centres by Rwanda’s security apparatus in recruiting young men into armed rebel groups causing insecurity in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

All evidences gathered by different Non-government Organisations continuously implicate Rwanda for its role in the war in the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo, where people have endured years of suffering and deaths.
