RFI’s Anne-Marie Bissada spoke to Rever who accuses Kagame and his RPF of killing thousands of Hutus in a “parallel genocide”

Rwanda’s parliamentary elections are expected to strengthen President Paul Kagame’s hold on power. His Rwandan Patriotric Front — the RPF — has been in power for 24 years … since the 1994 genocide.

More than 800 thousand mostly Tutsis Rwandans were murdered by Hutu extremists. Since then, Kagame — who is ethnically tutsi — claims he’s been steering Rwanda towards economic and political stability.

Investigative journalist Judi Rever — who wrote a book about the genocide — paints are darker side to Kagame. She accuses him and his RPF of killing thousands of Hutus in a “parallel genocide” … in an effort to stay in power.
