According to some Burundian top officials, there is no substance and truth in Rwanda’s allegations against Burundi, asserting that Kagame and his regime are only pushing for selfish and ill-motivated interests against Bujumbura.
“Kigali seeks to deny Burundi essential supplies and suffocate our country into submission but be the first to distance Rwanda from their ill motives through media propaganda and note verbal rs to other EAC states,” says one top senior Burundian official.
He charges that Rwanda is in dire need of foreign currency and that this is the reason for their blocking of cargo headed to Burundi from Uganda and Kenya. This is pure and usual total diplomatic blackmail by the Rwandan regime.
