Major Jean Paul Mbabazi pictured says that FDRLR combatants in Congo are given wrong information about what is happening in Rwanda
A group of former FDLR combatants who have just concluded their six months demobilization and integration course have said that deciding to return was the best decision they took.
The 75 former militias who until repatriation were operating in the Congo jungles say that many of the fighters are in Congo jungles because they have misleading information about what is happening in the country.
According to Major Sylvestre Muhirwa, one of the integrated fighters it is the misleading information disseminated to the people in Congo that hinder them from coming back home
“I would like to take this opportunity to call upon all our former compatriots that when you reach here you will be welcomed well and be given all your rights like any other Rwandan,” he said.
Speaking at the passing of the 48th group of integrated former militias, the Inspector General of the Rwanda Defence Forces Major General Jack Nziza thanked the group form making the decision to come back to their country.
“I would like to thank you for the good example you set by disengaging yourselves from wrong doers. We request you to continue working with other Rwandans to sensitise even those that you left behind to come and build their country,” he said.
He further told them that the people they are going to live with, out there are fellow Rwandans who are ready to welcome them and help them integrate in their respective communities.
At the event, the demobilized militias once again confirmed the close working relationship between the Democratic Republic Army (FARDC) and FDLR.
Major Sylivestre Muhirwa and Major Jean Paul Mbabazi say that the working relationship between the FARDC and FDLR is centered on exchanging intelligence information, ammunitions and helping each other in different battles.
Muhirwa confirmed that many of the ammunitions that FDLR militias use were given by the Congolese government.
According to the Chairman of the Rwanda Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (RDRC) Jean Sayinzoga says that the close collaboration between FARDC and FDLR is currently being reflected in the numbers of returnees.
“Today we are passing 75 returnees only while in the past we used to have cohorts of over 100 returnees. This is caused by the prevailing wars in Congo in which the Congolese government is giving FDLR fighters work to do fight on their behalf,” said Sayinzoga.
Early this month, the Congolese government blocked some fighters from returning to Rwanda arguing that they were too many to cross the border at once.
Through the repatriation programme Rwanda has integrated more than 12,000 FDLR fighters Since 2001. The trend has seen almost a daily flow of combatants. However, media reports show that since October, no combatants have been recorded by Rwandan authorities.
The Rwandan government has also continued to pile pressure on the UN peace keeping mission in DR Congo accusing it of looking away as Rwandan rebels roam Congo’s jungles – and planning to attack Rwanda.
Rwanda’s envoy at the UN Eugene Richard Gasana recently fired at the agency following the M23 rebel group declaring end to its rebellion.

Abahoze muri FDLR bemeza ko uyu mutwe ukorana bya hafi na FARDC
Muri uwo muhango wo gusoza amahugurwa bahabwaga, Majoro Jean Paul Mbabazi w’imyaka 36 na Majoro Muhirwa Sylvestre bavuze ko uwo mutwe ufitanye imikoranire ya hafi n’igisirikare cya Leta ya Congo, haba mu guhanahana amakuru, ibikoresho ndetse no guhana ubufasha mu ntambara zitandukanye.
Majoro Muhirwa, yavuze ko umuntu uri muri FDLR abona neza ko FDLR na FARDC bafitanye imikorere binyuze muri bamwe mu bayobozi b’izi nzego uko ari ebyiri. Ati: “Uretse ibyo kandi, ntabwo twakwirengagiza ko nyinshi mu ntwaro FDLR ikoresha yazihawe na guverinoma ya Congo”.
Ibi kandi bishimangirwa na Majoro Mbabazi, uvuga ko ahari FARDC uhasanga ku buryo bworoshye FDLR.
