Rwanda’s Directorate of Military Intelligence, in one way or another, was involved in the assassination of Bobi Wine’s driver

By Rpf Gakwerere

For weeks, since the Arua incidence, I have been reading insults and counter insults between NRM vs Bobi Wine supporters over trivial issues, what political analyst always refer as mud-slinging arguments rather than policy arguments.

The Arua incidence would have been solved the next day, if only the government had instituted a credible investigation inquiry that comprised both the government and the opposition. Instead, the government went on denials and counter denials with the opposition. And soon, those who were arrested by the government became opposition posters. The way the government handled the Arua incidence/situation was amateurish and hasty at best. And this came at the moment when Bobi Wine’s popularity in the country was gaining momentum with by-election landslides for the candidates he supported, against those candidates supported by other political bigwigs like president Museveni and Kiza Besigye.

Before the Arua incidence, the position in Uganda was going through feudal warfare between opposition figureheads who were tearing each other through their respective supporters. The opposition was washed with political intrigues as Bobi Wine’s political stardom was rising. Then, boom, the Arua incidence happened, the government and their naive political strategists granted a free Christmas gift for the opposition to unite. The 33 arrested individuals became a rallying cry for the opposition, thus creating unity that was lacking within the opposition franchise.

For me, I totally believe that the Arua incidence for example, the smashing of the presidential convoy car and the assassination of Bobi Wine’s driver, Rwanda’s Directorate of Military Intelligence, in one way or another, was involved. No supporter(s) would dare to throw a stone at a presidential convoy, because they know the price of such an action. And totally the government – SFC/police personnel wouldn’t dare to assassinate Bobi Wine in the middle of a heated political campaign because, the political fallout would burn the country. Thus, I believe that a well disciplined and trained third party was involved in the Arua incidence, this is a party that wants to see Uganda burn to ashes. While referring to Ugandan government, Gen James Kabarebe told RPF youths, ” they (government of Uganda/M7) will not know what has hit them.”

Last year, during constitutional change debate in Uganda, in my several posts, I warned how criminal Paul Kagame and his dreaded DMI outfit where planning to turn Uganda into a failed state – anarchy. And I totally believe that the bullet which killed the driver wasn’t a stray bullet but a well aimed assassination hit and the assassin my have mistaken Yasin Kawuma for Bobi Wine.

The assassination of Yasin Kawuma – Bobi Wine’s driver, judge Joan Kagezi, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, MP Ibrahim Abiriga….etc, have the hallmark of professionalism in executions of innocent citizens through callous assassinations.

The government should have appointed an agreed panel to investigate the Arua incident, rather than turning Bobi Wine into an opposition hero. Now, the government is playing a catch up and aimlessly reacting through different uncoordinated government officials with lumbering messages.

Why is the government panicking over one person – Bobi Wine, who has no single political structure or any stated policy? The message that Bobi Wine is speaking, has been spoken by other opposition figureheads for years i.e Kiza Besigye, but why is the government showing signs of panic over Bobi Wine?
