Back in March 2016, the U.S Embassador to the UN Samantha Jane Power declared before the UN General Assembly that even before the start of RPF manipulation, the United States were well aware of the scenario.
However, RPF’s strategists seem to ignore this fact and are now forging ahead with their impolitic mechanism of burying their heads in the sand. They think that with the help of fraudulence and violence, they can win the coming election. Yet, they are exerting unprecedented crackdown on political opponents which betrays a certain lack of confidence.
Hence, if the RPF is popular, why does it fear to compete with opposition candidates? Free elections are the rarest thing in Rwanda. Two reliable opinion polls conducted in 2003 and 2010 showed that F. Twagiramungu and J. D. Ntawukuriryayo had overtaken P. Kagame in popular support.
This time if Kagame wins, everybody will question his victory.
