President Yoweri Museveni and his DR Congo counterpart Felix Tshisekedi are set to meet on Wednesday 16th 6/2021 at Mpondwe border post in Kasese district for the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of roads linking the two countries.
The roads include; Budiba Bridge across River Semuliki with Rwebisengo-Budiba-Bunia Access Road (78Km), Mpondwe/Kasindi-Beni Road (77km), Nebbi-Goli-Bunia Road (197km), Goma-Rutshuru-Bunagana Road (100km) and Bukavu-Goma-Butembo-Beni-Bunia Corridor (758km).
According to the government, the project will benefit the people of Uganda through economic development. DRC is one of Uganda’s biggest trading partners, with a number of Uganda’s exports such as cement, cooking oil, soap and tea among others. Source:
