Will Kagame Close Borders With USA for Granting Amb Gasana Green Card?. Former Rwandan Ambassador to USA Eugene Gasana who fell out with his former boss turned tormentor Paul Kagame recently secured permanent residence permit for him and his family.
According to Mr.Gasana it was through hard work and expertise of Mr. Michael Wildes in securing permanent residence for his family.
“With limited options available to us, Mr. Wildes brilliantly leveraged a rarely-used provision of law known as ‘Section 13 adjustment’ that protects former diplomats like myself. Adding to the complexity, our case required approval before my eldest son turned 21-years-old and would no longer be my dependent” Amb Gasana explained.
He further narrated that as the deadline approached, Mr. Wildes and his team worked tirelessly to notify the top USCIS officials to ensure that “our cases were timely approved. As a former Ambassador to the United Nations, I have had the privilege to know some of the best legal professionals internationally. Through this experience, I can confirm that Mr. Wildes and the lawyers at Wildes and Weinberg certainly rank among the world’s best”.
Gasana a former Kagame’s “barking dog” parted ways with his master in 2016 after he was recalled home under mysterious circumstances.
Fearing for his life once he touched Kigali, Gasana disappeared from office and has been living under US police close protection.
However, it remains unclear if Kagame who some see as East Africa’s “cry baby” for always playing a victim will ask United states to cancel Gasana’s green card or close borders with the US just like he reacts to neighbours who host opposition members who fled repression back home.
A case in point is that Kagame wants Uganda to close business for businessman Tripbert Ayabatwa Rujugiro whom they got misunderstandings and fled Kigali.
This has resulted into Kagame closing borders with Uganda aimed at trying to force Kampala to act on its demands.
Uganda has since kept a deaf ear and instead advised traders to look for more markets from other neigbouring countries.
Kenya has since doubled import for Ugandan sugar from 36000 metric tonnes to 90000 metric tonnes every year and agreed to increase importing Ugandan poultry among others.
It has also offered land to Uganda government to construct a dry in land port to handle Ugandan imports from Mombasa Kenya.
